WEST DES MOINES, Iowa —
The parents of an Iowa teenager who died last year of starvation
took life insurances policies out in her name.

Nicole Finn is charged with first-degree murder for the
starvation death of 16-year-old Natalie Finn. Joseph Finn is
charged with three counts of first-degree kidnapping, child
endangerment causing serious injury and neglect of a dependent
person in the same case.

Court documents indicate Nicole Finn took out a $25,000 life
insurance policy for her adoptive daughter, while Joseph Finn
took out a $10,000 life insurance policy. That money is now in
limbo.

"Greed is a horrible word, but I think in this case it really
depicts what this was all really about,” Sen. Matt McCoy (D-
Iowa) said.

McCoy, who has tried to be a voice for Natalie Finn following
her death, said the latest revelation sickens him.

"It was the final straw,” McCoy said. “It's like, how could you
get any more evil than this? It's just disgusting."

Law expert Trever Hook says it is not unusual for parents to
take out life insurance policies on their children, but it does
not always look good.

"Of course for the prosecution standpoint, any life insurance
that is brought out on a child or children, or two policies in
this case, that gives a motive,” Hook said.

Hook said even though Joseph Finn is not charged with murder but
has rejected the $10,000.

Nicole Finn has not turned down the $25,000, but it cannot be
handed over to her at this time.

"You cannot obtain any benefits from the life insurance policy
itself if you caused the death intentionally and unjustifiably,”
Hook said.

The next beneficiary is Natalie's brother, and court documents
show he attempted to collect the money just this month.

The money remains in limbo as the family and estate
administrator awaits Nicole's trial next month.

Even without any religious connotations "EVIL" certainly
exists. These two are this weeks poster-children for evil.
Unfortunately next week there'll be others .....
