Amiddle school teacher stands accused of sexually abusing three boys
under her tutelage between the ages of 13 and 14 sending them
disgusting Snapchats and committing heinous sex acts with at least one
of them, and more than once.
Cassidy (Branning) Kraus, 24, resigned from her position at IKM-Manning
Middle School in the district of the same name, located in Manning, Iowa
a rural community nestled between Sioux Falls, the capital city of Des
Moines and Omaha, Nebraska, which is situated on the border of Iowa and
Nebraska in August, not wishing to face the backlash that would come
from the firing process.
She was charged with three misdemeanor counts of the dissemination of
obscene materials to minors, two felony counts of lascivious acts with a
child and a felony count of third-degree sexual abuse.

A press release from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office obtained by the
Des Moines Register and other local media outlets alleged that the
disgraced educator "engaged in multiple sexually-oriented acts with
three different students, the youngest of which being 13," all while she
taught the same students at the same middle school she herself went to
while growing up, according to her Facebook page.
The sheriff's office said it conducted the investigation in partnership
with the Manning Police Department, which ultimately led to Kraus'
arrest. On Friday morning, Oct. 20, she reportedly posted a $10,000 bail
payment and was released from jail. This comes after court documents
obtained by Law&Crime stated that she might not be eligible for bond.
Sexual abuse in the third degree is a felony punishable by no more than
10 years in prison in the state of Iowa and a fine of more than $1,370
but less than $13,660. Committing lascivious acts with a child carries
the same punishments, while the dissemination of obscene materials
carries a sentence of up to one year and fines of up to $2,560.
All in all, Kraus could be facing up to 31 years in prison, if she
receives the maximum pentalty, and might have to pay over $43,000 in
fines. And she'll likely have to register on the Iowa sex offender list.
Kraus is expected to appear in court again on October 26.
The 24-year-old is originally from the town of Westside and just got
married in July, according to her social media feeds. Through her
position, she was also a mandated reporter of sexual abuse against the
children in her school making her heinous charges all the more ironic.
The district services the municipalities of Manning as well as Irwin,
Kirkman and Manilla (the IKM in the district's name). It has just over
700 students districtwide, meaning its student-teacher ratio is about
14:1, reported U.S. News and World Report.
